A Man Saves His Years Worth of Trash
Ari Derfel is a native of Berkeley, California, United States. He has saved the trash for all year long and he wants to remind other people that it is not just him who is trashy, but everyone ones is trashy too or they like one.
Arif Derfel is 35-year-old caterer has saved all his trash to see how much trash he can really collect and calculate how much trash one person generates. He found out that in his case, it was about 96 cubic feet garbage. The experiment began as a way to examine his own consumption habits, Derfel said, but grew into a statement about consumerism and the environment.
“When we throw something away, what does ‘away’ mean?” Derfel said. “There’s no such thing as ‘away.’”
The refuse — including every tissue, receipt, food wrapper and plastic bottle — lies in bins in the kitchen and living room of Derfel’s apartment. He composts his food scraps. Here is an interesting thing to blow your mind away Arif is planning to donate his trash from the past year to a sculptor who uses waste to create arts.
