Apple MacBook Air
Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs has a new year gift for all of you. The Macbook Air. This apple laptop computer is ultra-thin. He revealed the Macbook Air after his keynote speech at the 2008 Macworld Expo at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco.
Apple’s MacBook Air is a personal computer that is less than an inch thick and it is so quick that it turns on the moment you open it up. The company has also confirmed that they are looking into movie rental businesses - starting an alliance with all six major movie studios to offer movies over the internet within 30 days after they’re released on DVD. That’s fast eh.
This new computer is 0.76 inches thick; at its thinnest, it’s .16 inches and has 13.3-inch screen and full-sized laptop keyboard. It comes standard with an 80-gigabyte hard drive, with the option of a 64GB flash-based solid state drive as an upgrade.
The downside of the apple macbook air is that it doesn’t has a built-in optical drive for reading CDs and DVDs, like most of the other laptops. However, the Apple’s Steve Jobs thinks there is no need to be since people can download movies and music over the Internet and access the optical drives on other PCs and Macs to install new software. User can also buy an external drive if they want to for the price of $99. The macbook air will cost $1,799.
