Bale is famous for his versatility as an actor and mimicking any English-language-based accent, harsh regimens of shedding and gaining weight (particularly for The Machinist, Batman Begins and, most recently, Rescue Dawn), and generally inhabiting the characters he plays. In 1992, Bale did his first adult role in the musical Newsies, in which he could be seen singing, dancing, and sporting a fairly convincing American accent.
