Memory foam is referred to as visco elastic polyurethane foam for that reason. Memory foams are firmer in cold temperatures and softer in warm. These foams are used in mattresses now a days because it helps decrease the pressure caused by g-force. Memory foam mattress is also used by people who are bed bound and have to lie in bed on hard or very firm mattress surfaces for long periods of time with no movement. The foams helps reduce the pressure over the bony regions and prevents pressure sores and gangrene.
