Red Flags in Resume

Don’t send a red flag warning sigal. Resumes with gaps can result in instant irritation for the recruiter at human resource department and thus get tossed away very easily.

Hiring managers make their work easier by filtering out the resumes that have red flags in job application. So most of the time such resume doesn’t result in job interview at all.

To be certain that you will get past the initial screen, be aware of the following common candidate red flags:

No contact address and number. If you don’t add your address and phone number in the application, it is guaranteed that you not going to get any call.

Time lapse or gap between jobs. If the time between past positions is wide, you will have some explaining to do. Be certain you’re honest and provide all necessary information on gaps in employment up front. It is certain the new company will want to know.

No good reason to leave the previous employment. The worst case situation that the hiring person can see is that when you are negative or vague with information about past departures.

Unrealistic expectation. If the person wants big unrealistic perks and compensation, it would be a disastrous for the employer to even interview him or her.

No preparation. Before you apply for the job, you should do your homework by researching about the company online. Start preparing like as if you are going to get an interview.
